United Titanium Produces Custom Titanium parts for Northrop Grumman

For defense contractor, United Titanium gets it right every time

For more than 12 years, Northrop Grumman, a global provider of security and defense solutions for government and commercial customers, has turned to United Titanium for its specialty metal and custom titanium parts.

As the company’s supply chain program manager, Sharon Hyson has extensive experience working with the engineers at United Titanium. “[Their customer service] is probably the best I have with any supplier. Truly, and that’s all I do,” she said.

Hyson said one project in particular stands out. When Northrop Grumman needed a customized part, other vendors she quoted said it would take at least four or five months to produce. But when her team sent a sketch to United Titanium, their team quickly turned around a rendering and finished product.

Beyond their quick production and delivery, Hyson said it’s also the quality of United Titanium’s products that separates them from other vendors. As a defense contractor, Northrop Grumman’s parts must adhere to strict OEM guidelines, and United Titanium’s products always meet the necessary standards for military applications.

“We don’t get failures from them. Period. And that’s not in the norm,” she said.

In 2016, out of the 733 specialty metal parts that United Titanium has produced for Northrop Grumman, not one has failed during testing. Hyson said it’s that 100 percent vendor quality rating that keeps her returning to United Titanium time and again for additional orders.

“They’re a stellar company to deal with in every aspect—customer service, delivery, product, and reliability,” she said.
